Coach’s Corner: 9 Requirements to Having a Rapidly Growing Company

Hello again, friends. This is David Boyle, your Client Success Manager for ESI and Airtime. I’m here with another Coach’s Corner.

You know, in my position, I’m frequently asked, “What can I further do to grow my company?” It’s not an easy question to answer because the answer for each company can be completely different.

However, over the last few days, I constructed a list of things I believe all growing companies should do. I came up with nine key things, and I thought I’d share them with you as a good starting point.

The “9 Requirements to Having a Rapidly Growing Company” are:

1. Active leadership.
Every great company has great leaders. Not only does leadership come from the top, in the form of the owner, growing companies need leaders at every level of your business.

2. The right culture.
Culture is one of those buzz words that’s hard to describe. But you know almost immediately when walking into a business if it has the right culture. It’s a feeling the company emits. A lot of it stems with leadership, but also in the passion and happiness you see in the employees.

3. Employee motivation.
Your people have to be excited to come into work each day, and that passion should be felt in everything they do. Here’s the key: It can’t be forced. It has to be natural. That means having the right people and training, allowing them to do their jobs, and then rewarding them for a job well done.

4. Communication skills.
We talk all the time the importance of communicating with customers both in the home and on the phone. It’s hugely important. However, equally as important is having open communication in your business. Let your people know exactly how the company is doing and where you’re headed, and what their part is in the plan.

5. Exceptional customer service.
Growing companies invest significantly in both time and money into their people to ensure they deliver that exceptional experience. As a result, their customers love them and tell their friends and family about them.

Of course, growing companies also require the “not so fun things to discuss,” but they’re just as important. That’s to say growing companies need…

6. Strong human resources.
Not only do you need to be good at HR to find the right people, you also need to have the right policies and procedures. You need to make it clear to your team that you demand the highest ethical standards when conducting business.

7. Legal
Hopefully you never need it, but you have to be prepared for the common legal challenges that more frequently impact larger operations.

8. Accounting, Budgeting & Forecasting
Great, growing companies know their numbers. They know how to spot any performance challenges before they can cause massive damage. That means knowing and watching what they should be doing monthly, weekly, and daily.

9. Technology
Growing companies are always looking for ways to utilize technology in any and all capacities. Whether it’s software to assist in the office or a new tool to provide techs. Technology has become a growing company’s friend.

There you have it. Those are“9 Requirements to Having a Rapidly Growing Company.” Of course, if you have a question about any or all of those facets, feel free to give any of your Client Success Managers a call. We’re always happy to help.

Have a successful day!
