George Donaldson has moved up quickly in this business. His first gig was straight out of high school when he became an electrician for a commercial company. After two years there, he joined Beverly Goshern at Candlelight Electric in Denver, Colorado. He was a technician at Candlelight Electric, which at that time was a small company. But as the company grew, so did Donaldson’s responsibilities and soon he was general manager. How did he get the job at such a young age? “I was extremely determined,” said Donaldson. “When I got control of it I was able to raise revenue quick and that was how I was able to stay in the position and grow the company.”
Now, in addition to his role as regional vice president of Clockwork Services Inc., Donaldson runs his own company in Southern California.” We are making big improvements, because there are a lot of improvements to be made. I plan to grow this company and add Sparky. We have plumbing. We will grow plumbing and grow this entire company very fast. No doubt,” he said. In addition to having a checklist for operations, sales, and office managers, one of the tools Donaldson has helped create is the general manager’s checklist.
“I created that as a regional manager last year. It helps my general managers stay on task. There are a lot of tasks that a general manager should do and I broke it down to what they should do each day. I use it myself. It breaks down what you should do each day of the week, and then it also breaks down what you should do on a monthly basis, semi annual basis, and annual basis,” he said.
